Senior Operations Manager

Provide overall management, direction, and oversight for all generating assets. Responsibilities include ensuring profitability, contract compliance, decision making, problem solving, regulatory compliance, environmental and safety compliance, legal interface, guidance and direction to supervisors/managers, and monitoring plant activities ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of facilities, compliance with all regulatory requirements and management of all site personnel. It is expected this role will continue to expand with the acquisition of new projects within the geographic area.

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor the day-to-day operation, maintenance, fiscal, and administrative functions of each operating facility.
  • Manages all areas of responsibility consistent with: federal, state, and local regulations and environmental requirements; company policies and procedures; company’s annual operations plan; legal and contractual requirements; and good utility practices while operating in a clean, safe, efficient, and economical manner.
  • Prepare annual operating plans, budgets, and controls for operating at budgeted levels with appropriate justification and approval for variances including site outages (compliant with dispatching needs) and operating shift schedules to accommodate facility operation and scheduled maintenance.
  • Direct professional development of subordinates, including identifying needs and supporting plans. Identify personal development requirements for continued performance improvement.
  • Direct the activities of all managers and supervisors in their geographic area and maintain a positive employee relations climate for all employees through consistent application of all the company programs.
  • Utilizes a computer-based automated maintenance management system to: organize equipment commissioning, operations and maintenance files; to identify trends; to take corrective action; and to maintain equipment performance by maximizing plant capacity factor, availability, performance, and efficiency.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Works closely with the Health and Safety Manager to implement risk based programs.
  • Works closely with the Compliance Manager to implement applicable programs and controls.
  • Works closely with the Engineering Manager to carry out major CAPEX projects throughout the region.
  • Manages and administers any bargaining unit contract, working with HR on any amendments, grievances, etc.
  • Prepares and is responsible for the execution of emergency plans.

Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience and demonstrated outstanding management and supervision of technical, operating, or maintenance power plant personnel.
  • Demonstrated technical, commercial, and managerial experience with both regulated and independent power markets, preferably ISO-NE.
  • In-depth knowledge of power generating facility equipment technology, *hydro and pumped storage*.
  • Proficiency in personal computer applications and, in particular, operational and financial modeling and budgeting.
  • Accomplished public speaker.
  • Successful negotiator with demonstrated accomplishments.
  • Superior problem solving, organization, and prioritizing skills.
  • Willingness and the ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

  • Security Operations Analyst (SOC)

    Help protect our company from cyber-attackers. Defend critical infrastructure supporting our system operation from cyber security threats on a 24/7 basis.

    ** 12-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, and holidays.

    Responsibilities include:

    Compliance Monitoring (30%)

    • Support the security team in protecting the integrity and confidentiality of our company assets. Consistently and completely update compliance test system rules to adapt to changes in System Configuration Management Policy.
    • Develop and deliver reports relevant to policy compliance and follow up with non-compliance issues.

    Incident and Intrusion Monitoring and Response (30%)

    • Following established protocols, analyze and respond to security threats from Firewall, Intrusion Detection Systems, Intrusion Prevention Systems, Antivirus, Network Access Controls and other security threat data sources.
    • Evaluate and escalate events and incidents based on established escalation procedures.
    • Update and maintain network and system intrusion monitoring systems.
    • Take part in Incident Response testing.
    • Maintain awareness of threat universe developments.

    Policy Development (20%)

    • Review and update Cyber Security Business Process and Procedures.
    • Review and update IT Policy and Procedures.
    • Implement procedures to address new requirements.

    Procedure Development (20%)

    • Identify, document and implement procedures supporting threat intelligence and event management practices.
    • Develop, test and implement new or improved applications of existing monitoring applications.
    • Establish procedures and processes with other business units in support of incident response, event management and threat intelligence.

    Requirements include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Security, Cyber Security or related fields. Advanced degree in Cyber Security Preferred. Equivalent experience may be used in lieu of degree.
  • 2-7 years’ experience working with Information Systems and Networks
  • 1-3+ years Information Security related experience in areas such as: security operations, incident analysis, incident handling, vulnerability management or testing, intrusion detection or firewall administration
  • Industry security certifications preferred, including Certifications such as: CISSP, CEH, Security+, SANS certification(s), Network+, GSEC, GCED, GCIH or CCNA/CCNP Security

  • System Operator/ Reactor Operator

    The position will be enrolled in an 8 month System Operator Initial Training (SOIT) program which will provide them with the skills and knowledge needed to reliably operate the bulk electric system in a variety of roles at our company; Operations Engineer, Outage Coordinator or System Operator.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Successfully complete the TOP Program based upon the System Operator Initial Training.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in operation of the advanced Energy Management System (EMS) and application of Operational Procedures, System Operating Procedures, and Transmission Operating Guides in a real-time environment in order to economically and reliably operate the bulk power system.
    • Successfully complete the NERC System Operator certification examination and obtain the Reliability Coordinator credential.
    • 3 years industry experience in system operations, transmission operations (reliability emphasis), or market operations or a combination thereof.
    • Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised under demanding time constraints and work effectively in a team environment.
    • Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills.
    • Self-starter with advanced reading and recall skills.
    • Working knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
    • Ability to work rotating shifts and short notice overtime as needed.
    • Requirements include:

    • Must Have: A Bachelor degree (Or presently pursuing one), and 3 years of formal technical training.

    • EXAMPLE of work schedule:

      Spare weeks (Tues - Fri, 8-hour days) Training weeks (Mon - Fri, 8-hour days) Shift days are highly variable in terms of how busy they are.

      Lieu Days If a scheduled day off lands on a holiday you get another day off (lieu day) whenever you want. Depending on the shift rotation, you can end up with quite a few of these extra days off. Most everyone takes vacation during the four-day spare week that lands after the normally-scheduled 8-day off - for a total 14 days off. Since you have fifteen days off every year (some lieu days), a System Operator can potentially have **four** 2-week vacation periods. I can't think of another job that pays this well and allows this much flexibility!

    Senior Java Developer

    This position will perform software analysis, design, development and integration for a variety of software applications throughout the company. Tasks will include development of technical specifications, software programming, performing unit testing and supporting systems and business acceptance testing. This position will provide a high level of technical knowledge to ensure the efficient design, development and implementation of software applications. The position requires a detailed technical understanding of n-Tier Web Development using JBOSS and Tomcat Application Servers, JEE, Struts2, myBatis JavaScript, Ext-JS , and CSS. Strong SQL and Unix/Linux skills are also required.

    Responsibilities:

    • Formulate and define software scope and objectives. May gather business requirements from users and prepare requirements specifications. Applies knowledge and understanding of business activities to assist in identifying problems and developing a plan for their resolution.
    • Software design, programming & testing. Provide a high level of technical knowledge to ensure efficient design, development and implementation of complex systems. For Senior level may act as team lead on less complex projects and may assist more junior team members.
    • Work in a team environment to support users and other technical staff. Learn our company's business process. May informally mentor staff.

    • Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in computer science/electrical engineering, or equivalent is required. (A Masters degree in Computer Science or MIS is desirable and may be used to augment software development experience).

    • Experience in enterprise data integration is a plus, as is experience in complex or large-scale software projects and web and server-side applications
    • UX/UI Developer experience with strong experience in JavaScript, Ext-JS, HTML/HTML5, and CSS/CSS3 is highly desirable.

    Senior/Transmission Planning Engineer

    • The Transmission Planning Engineer position is responsible for:

    • The performance of transmission planning studies.
    • Simulation of electric transmission system behavior.
    • Analysis of results.
    • Development of recommendations to ensure the continued reliability and economic efficiency of the New England electric power system.
    • This position provides technical review, analysis and recommendations throughout the generator interconnection process. This position provides technical and procedural leadership, coordination, and facilitation within our company and amongst stakeholders.

      Associate/Engineer Level:

    • Associate Engineer level: 2 to 4 years experience.
    • Engineer level: 4 to 6 years experience.
    • Supporting our Tariff obligations for Generator interconnection study and review, including performing all related studies (load flow, stability, short circuit) related to interconnection of new generators.
    • Completing the necessary studies to assess system reliability and determine transmission system solutions to resolve concerns.
    • Perform reliability determinations for generator retirements and for generators requesting to exit the Forward Capacity Market.
    • Developing data, assumptions, methodology and procedures for use in reliability studies of the New England bulk power system.
    • Performing analysis to support NEPOOL and NPCC Committee work on regional transmission planning issues.
    • Senior/Lead Level:

    • Senior level: 6 to 10 years experience.
    • Interacting with stakeholders to seek input and address their concerns with respect to transmission system analysis.
    • Developing and recommending new business processes and Planning Procedures to the management of Transmission Planning.
    • Providing leadership assistance in general Transmission Planning group administration.
    • Must be proficient in applying planning criteria and conducting computer simulations of transmission system performance.

    Lead Enterprise Architect

    This position is responsible for providing direction, standardization and technical leadership relative to the software and security architecture of our company’s technology. You will Lead the technical integration efforts, evaluating new and evolving business requirements, and reviewing and recommending appropriate systems and procedural alternatives. In concert with other staff members, and also assist in the design and implementation of our technology based business solutions.

    Senior Engineer- Windows Server

    Our current opening for a talented Senior Engineer will be someone who is experienced in Windows administration, scalable architectures, orchestration, and advanced problem solving. Primary responsibility is maintaining our company’s critical infrastructure.

    The Senior Engineer will participate in our ** Paid on-call rotation ** where you will remotely respond to after-hours trouble or escalation calls from IT Operations Technicians or Security Operation Center Technicians, and report onsite if necessary.

    Responsibilities

    • Support, monitor, evaluate and enhance Windows Server Infrastructure for optimal performance, security, scalability and availability.
    • Design and implement automation and orchestration solutions.
